Cover Care |
|
| |
SB Marine Trimming uses only the
finest quality materials in all of our jobs. It is important to maintain
your clears, canvas and boat hooding properly to get the most out of
them.
UV rays, dried salt, bird droppings and
general moisture can cause the materials to become gritty, dirty and
mouldy. It not only looks bad, it can also damage clears and canvas
shortening its life.
Most manufacturers recommend that you do
not use any harsh chemicals when cleaning. There are some products on
the market that will help with cleaning jobs, as well as protecting your
covers.

Clear Care Clear PVC is highly
susceptible to degradation due to extreme UV rays and pollutants in the
air, often turning yellow and brittle over time. Regular cleaning and
shielding when not in use will help extend the life of the clear.
Clears should only be cleaned with a diluted
solution of mild soap and warm water. Rinse with clean water and dry
with a soft cloth or sponge. Rubbing will scratch the surface, and the
use of solvents and chemical cleaners are not recommended by the
manufacturers. They do, however, recommend the use of Plexus plastic
cleaner. |

Plexus cleans,
protects and polishes all kinds of plastics. It seals the surface of the
clears with a thin layer of shiny, protective wax. This makes the clear
resistant to scratching, debris and yellowing. Its anti static
properties also allows the clear to repel dust and lint. It is
recommended to clean the clear first with diluted soapy water, as
mentioned above, and then apply the Plexus. It's as easy as spraying and
wiping. No buffing needed. Just be sure to use a soft, clean cloth. |

Canvas
Care |
|
|
|
Canvas should be cleaned
regularly of dirt, salt and other particles that may accumulate.
Brushing loose particles off regularly, before they become embedded is
ideal.
When needed, hose down and clean with a
mild natural soap in lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Do not use detergents. Do not use hot water as the fabric may shrink.
When storing canvas covers, make sure
they are clean, allowed to completely dry, and store in a dry, well
ventilated area. |
|
|
|
 |
After cleaning, it is a good
idea to re-finish the surface of the canvas to protect it and replace
the original waterproof coating.
Brellaguard is a fantastic new product
that protects and waterproofs canvas and other outdoor textiles. It
repels dirt, grease, water and oil. Brellaguard is made from all natural
ingredients, so it does not harm our precious environment and waterways.
We recommend Brellaguard to prolong the
life of your canvas covers. |

Boat
Hooding Care |
|
Mariner Boat Hooding |
Although the boat hooding we use have been
treated with anti-mildew agents, it does not offer absolute safety
against fungal attack.
When storing covers, make sure they are
clean and dry, and stored in a dry, well ventilated area.
The covers should be cleaned of any dirt
or salt build up regularly. A mild, lukewarm soap solution should be
applied with a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly to remove all dirt
and soap residue. Do not use abrasive detergents or solvents, as this
will damage the coating on the vinyl.
